New York City is facing a new kind of nightmare where predators wear delivery uniforms to break into homes. On Tuesday morning, three callous invaders dressed as Amazon workers forced their way into a Bronx apartment, terrorizing an 89-year-old woman and her 70-year-old son. They held a gun to the son’s head and zip-tied the elderly mother, all to steal a measly $24 and a few personal items.

This brazen attack happened in the Jerome Park neighborhood near Bainbridge Avenue and East 199th Street. The victims answered their door thinking it was a delivery or the mother’s boyfriend, only to be overrun by strangers. The NYPD is now hunting these suspects who fled on foot with empty Amazon parcels, leaving two seniors bound and shaken in their own home.

The Brutal Details of the Tuesday Heist

According to reporting from the New York Post and amNewYork, the crime unfolded around 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday. The trio included a masked man and woman wearing Amazon vests, plus a third man dressed entirely in black. Sources say the suspects pushed past the 70-year-old son and immediately escalated the violence.

One of the intruders pointed a firearm directly at the son’s head while demanding money. The other suspects moved quickly to bind the 89-year-old mother’s hands with zip ties. A cell phone, home phone, wallet, and credit cards were grabbed as the group ransacked the unit. Despite the terror and the gun, the total cash taken was just $24.

Surveillance images captured the suspects striding down the sidewalk with empty Amazon boxes, a tactic meant to lower the victims’ guard. While one accomplice donned a similar vest over a black hooded sweatshirt, the female suspect was observed wearing an Amazon employee vest, black hat, and black boots. Both victims were treated on the scene for minor injuries before police arrived.

Why This Feels Like a City in Crisis

This isn’t just a robbery; it is a calculated attack on the most vulnerable residents of our city. The fact that these criminals chose to pose as trusted delivery workers shows a level of premeditation that should scare every New Yorker. They counted on the good nature of seniors to answer the door, and they exploited that trust with brutal efficiency.

We are seeing a pattern where common sense is no longer enough to keep you safe. An 89-year-old woman in her own home should never have to worry about being zip-tied by strangers in fake uniforms. The low value of the stolen goods, just $24, makes the violence even more senseless. These criminals risked everything for pocket change, proving they are desperate and dangerous.

The NYPD has not made any arrests as of Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing, and the public is urged to call Crime Stoppers if they have seen anyone matching these descriptions. We need more than just tips; we need a crackdown on these predators who are treating our neighborhoods like their personal hunting ground. The city cannot afford to let this become the new normal.

Call For Action and Community Vigilance

New Yorkers must remain on high alert, especially seniors living alone or with family. If you see someone in a delivery uniform acting suspiciously or lingering too long, do not ignore it. Verify with the building manager or call 911 immediately. Do not let your guard down just because someone is wearing a vest.

The RapForMayor team is demanding that the NYPD prioritize this investigation and bring these suspects to justice before they strike again. The 52nd Precinct has been notified, but this is a citywide problem that requires a citywide response.
