Common Sense Gets Called Hate

Here we go again. A WNBA star just spoke some plain truth about protecting girls in sports, and the left is losing their minds over it. Sophie Cunningham, a guard for the Indiana Fever, said biological men have no place competing against women, and now she’s being labeled a “MAGA Barbie” by the usual suspects. It’s a classic case of New York-style bullying, just with a national stage.

The backlash is so intense that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is taking notice. Leavitt confirmed that President Donald Trump is following the story and feels strongly that men shouldn’t play in women’s sports. She called the outrage from Democrats “astonishing” and said the President is right to pay attention to what the American people actually want.

The Facts Behind the Firestorm

Cunningham didn’t mince words in a recent ESPN interview. She told the outlet she wants to protect young girls from competing against biological men. When reporters accused her of hating trans people, she shot back that she never once said that. She told the Athletic that protecting children, especially little girls in that category, is really important to her.

The Indiana Fever organization issued a statement saying their players are thoughtful adults with their own perspectives. But Cunningham hasn’t backed down. She told reporters before a game against the Sun that she stands by what she said and will always believe it. She told TMZ that she’s there to love everyone, but she’s also there to love biological women.

Leavitt described the situation as an “80-20 issue,” meaning the vast majority of Americans agree with Cunningham. Leavitt argued that it’s “completely ludicrous” for anyone to support men in women’s sports and called it a basic biological fact. Cunningham noted that Title IX exists to protect women’s sports, and without it, we wouldn’t hear about female athletes.

Mike’s Take: Don’t Let Them Silence Truth

I’ve watched this city and this country get run into the ground by people who can’t handle the truth. Cunningham is just stating a fact that most of us in the stands already know: men and women are different, and we need to keep our girls safe. When you say “I’m there to love biological women,” the left screams “hate.” That’s their playbook. They want to silence anyone who points out reality.

It’s funny that they call her a “MAGA Barbie” when she’s just trying to do her job and protect kids. She told Just Jared that people love to assume things about her politics, but she’s in the middle on a lot of stuff. But on this? She’s clear. She told reporters she has morals and will always stand on them. That takes guts when your own league and the political machine are coming at you.

The White House is right to be involved. Leavitt said it’s ludicrous that anyone could support men playing in women’s sports. This isn’t about being mean to anyone; it’s about fairness. If we don’t protect women’s sports now, what’s next? We’ve seen enough in New York where common sense gets kicked out the window. Cunningham is standing her ground, and she’s right.

We need more voices like this in sports. Not the woke nonsense that tells us biology doesn’t matter, but the real talk that says girls deserve their own space to compete. Cunningham said she extends love to everyone but stands for biological women. That’s not hate; that’s sanity. And in a world gone crazy, sanity is the most radical thing you can be.

What Comes Next

Watch to see if the Fever or the WNBA try to silence her further. Leavitt said the President is following the story, so the pressure is on. If the left keeps attacking her, they’ll only prove her point. New Yorkers know when someone is standing up for what’s right, and Sophie Cunningham is doing exactly that.
